Virtual Reality Visors are employed in a number of industries to provide training and development, giving users experience of dangerous or challenging environments in safety and at minimal expense.

The "Non-rated Crew Member Manned Module (NCM3)", pictured above, recently installed at Fort Campbell, Ky. is a simulator that was designed to train helicopter gun crews on the back of both the CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

Specially designed virtual reality visors, which fit as night vision goggles would, enable soldiers to perfect gunnery tasks without ever leaving the safety of base camp.

Quantum 3D, a Silicon Valley Company, have also created a virtual reality training package for military applications. Their system enables soldiers to be 100% immersed in the battlefield, while actually moving around a conference room, gymnasium, or parking lot. The system consists of a 3D virtual reality visor mounted on the soldiers helmet connected to a backpack.

Virtual reality visors also have training applications in less specialised areas. At Miller-Motte Technical College in the USA, the dangers of texting whilst driving are demonstrated to teenagers with the aid of a virtual reality visor (below). The virtual reality visor simulates the motion of the car, whilst actually stationary and perfectly safe.
